Coastal Engineer

MRD Associates is currently accepting resumes for an experienced and highly motivated Coastal or Civil Engineer to assist with the growing demand for our coastal engineering services. Representative projects include a wide range of challenging coastal projects including data collection and analysis, shoreline stabilization and restoration, wetland and marsh creation, coastal structures, and coastal and marina development services.

Job Description

  • Manage all aspects of multiple projects and deliver on-time and under budget.
  • Conduct field investigations, data collection and analysis, develop engineering feasibility studies, engineering and design, and provide construction phase services.
  • Provide personalized services to our clients from concept and design, to delivery.
  • Possess an ability and desire to market the firm to bring in new work.
  • Some travel is required.

  • Minimum Qualifications

  • EIT (P.E. preferred) registered in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Bahamas or able to obtain registration within 6 months of employment.
  • Master’s degree in Coastal, Civil, Water Resources or Ocean Engineering.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the planning, permitting, analysis and design of coastal projects.
  • Proficiency in applying the Coastal Engineering Manual, and an in depth understanding of the coastal and marine environment.
  • Numerical modeling (wave, hydrodynamic, sediment and pollutant transport, and hydraulic and hydrologic) experience a plus. Data collection and analysis (wave, current, tides, geophysical) a plus.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A self-starter, energetic, creative, able to set priorities, and works well individually and as part of a team.
  • A U.S. citizen or, hold a permanent work Visa (required).
