Gulf County FEMA Berms - St. Joseph Peninsula Segment Sand Transfer Operations

The coast of Gulf County was damaged via storm surge and erosion incurred during Hurricane Michael in October 2018. Gulf County, Florida was designated as a County eligible to receive federal assistance. Gulf County has applied through the FEMA PA Program to receive funding to restore the eroded coastal dune system and install beach berms (dunes) in Gulf County.

This video highlights the sand transfer operations part of the project and shows how the sand is transferred from on-road dump trucks to off-road dump trucks. The sand color is initally dark due to being wet and will lighten overtime from the sun's influence. The project is currently under construction and is expected to be complete in March 2023.
