MRD Completes ADCP Data Collection Efforts Throughout Choctawhatchee Bay

MRD Associates recently completed multiple data collection efforts using ADCP's to collect wave, tide, and current data to determine the oceanographic climate within the Choctawhatchee Bay and its tributaries. The data is to be used in support of numerical modeling efforts including hydrographic studies, design and permitting services for multiple proposed Marinas throughout the area. MRD successfully achieved 100% data recovery for each deployment and delivered a useful final report summarizing the oceanographic data collected including wave and current parameters. Collection of metocean data can help engineers and planners select appropriate designs and find cost-effective solutions as well as determine flushing characteristics for proposed marinas, dredging activities, and upland basins. This is especially important in coastal environments where conditions can vary significantly based on the site's location.
